Our unit is located on the ground floor, Ward E1, and is a Primary Stroke Centre for the Greater Manchester Conurbation. People who have suffered a stroke are admitted on to this Unit (or the sister ward A10) within 4 hours of arriving in the Emergency Department.

What is an acute frailty unit?
The Acute Frailty Unit is for the assessment and treatment of frail older adults being urgently admitted with medical problems. Patients will commence a ‘comprehensive geriatric assessment’ which is recognised to improve patient outcomes and reduce length of hospital stay.
