Is tubigrip good for compression?

How do you know what size tubigrip to buy?
When working out which of the tubigrip sizes is right for you in terms of width, you want to measure the circumference around the center of the joint that you are looking to cover. For example, if you are looking to reduce swelling at the knee, measure around the center of the knee with the leg extended out straight.

It is essential to get the right size and to apply tubigrip correctly to ensure it works effectively and safely. Too loose and it won’t reduce swelling or provide support, too tight and it can be uncomfortable and could reduce circulation (blood flow). Tubigrip should feel tight but not restrictive.

You should wear your compression stockings during the day and take them off before going to bed. Put them on again first thing in the morning. You will be given an elastic bandage (tubigrip) and wound dressings to apply at home. After 48 hours you can remove the bandage, padding and white dressings. Try to leave the steristrips in place for 5-7 days.

In rare cases, compression socks that are too tight may cause superficial venous thrombosis. These superficial blood clots occur in veins close to the skin’s surface and are less likely to cause complications.

Can cause itching, redness, and irritation. Compression socks can aggravate skin irritation and also cause itching. When compression socks are improperly fitted, redness and temporary dents in your skin may appear on your legs at the edge of the sock’s fabric.
