Can you recertify ACLS online AHA?
As a general rule of thumb: if you are required to obtain an AHA ACLS Certification, you need to go directly through the AHA to complete your course. However, if your employer does not specifically require an AHA ACLS Certification, an ACLS online certification is an excellent choice for you.
Is ACLS online valid?
This course meets the high standards of the American Heart Association and is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Pre-Hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE). After successful completion of the online course and skills check, you will receive an AHA ACLS certification card valid for two years.
How do I get ACLS through AHA?
The AHA offers options for how you can purchase ACLS. You can take a full classroom course, take a blended learning course (HeartCode ACLS + a hands-on skills session training), or purchase additional course materials.
Does ACLS have to be through AHA?
There are quite a number of websites that offer “ACLS Certification” but are not AHA approved. Some may even say “approved by AHA certified physicians” or “AHA physicians recommend this course”. Beware of these sites. Most hospitals and healthcare facilities will not recognize these certifications.
What happens if you let your ACLS expire?
Once the expiration date passes, your card is no longer valid and active. In case you’ve exceeded the two years, don’t worry. You can take the ACLS Recertification Course at any point and make sure to renew your ACLS card. There is no need to take ACLS Certification Course all over again.

The best way to remember ACLS algorithms is by using the material you have studied in class to handle practical ACLS scenarios. It is advisable to use half of your study time to physically play out scenarios and go through the motions.
Is the ACLS test open book?
All AHA exams are now “open resource” which means student may use the ACLS manual, study guides, handouts and personal notes during the exam. Using the ACLS Provider Manual ahead of time with the online resources is very helpful.

Can you recertify ACLS if expired?
When your ACLS Certification is expired, there is no need to panic. You can decide to renew your card whenever you find it suitable for you. There is no time limit for ACLS renewal grace period – you can apply for a Recertification after five days or five years, it doesn’t matter.
How many questions are on the AHA ACLS test?
What to expect for the written test: The ProACLS written test has about 50 multiple-choice questions. The written test is also required and typically takes an hour of time to complete. The passing score for the written test is 85% or higher.
Does ACLS override BLS?
No! These courses are distinctly different. You do not need BLS to take ACLS, however it is highly recommended. You can also take our BLS-ACLS combo class in order to receive both cards on the same day.

Is there a grace period after ACLS expires?
Those students taking renewal classes must have an unexpired ACLS provider card. We do allow a one-month grace period, so if your card expires the month prior to your class, you are still eligible for the renewal program.
