Yes! Yaktrax are great for running in icy and snowy conditions. They allow you to extend your running season into the winter so you can maintain your fitness.
Are Yaktrax good on ice?
Despite their diminutive design, the Yaktrax Pro provide amazing traction on snow and packed snow and some additional traction on ice. They are also fine on cobblestone and pavement, even if they have a slightly cushy feel to them.

I’ve found that MICROspikes work well in mixed terrain. They work well on ice and snow and decently on rock and pavement.
Can you put MICROspikes on trail runners?
MICROspikes are great for hiking and off-trail terrain, but their stainless steel build is cumbersome for trail runners, and quickly degrades on roads.
Can you bring Yaktrax on a plane?
Can I take Yaktrax Warmers on an airplane? Yes, Yaktrax Warmers are TSA approved and can be taken in your carry-on or used to stay warm during your flight. They are completely safe for air travel.
Do Yaktrax work on mud?
Mud can be just as slippery as ice, so go with traction (YakTrax or microspikes will suffice).

Are MICROspikes the same as crampons?
The difference in the design of Crampons and Microspikes is related to their different uses. Crampons have fewer but larger spikes (usually 1” in length) that improve grip on ice and snow by embedding well into them. On the other hand, as the name suggests, Microspikes come with smaller spikes (¼” or ½” in length).

How do you clean Yaktrax?
We recommend just rinsing them in clean water and patting dry with a towel at least after every couple of uses. One reason to clean and dry often is that in many areas they salt the roads and sidewalks which if not cleaned off can be corrosive towards the Yaktrax over time.
