You Won’t Believe What Kind Of House $300,000 Will Buy You Around The World!

The median price of an American home is almost $300,00… are you curious to know what that will buy you in cities around the globe?

It may be hard for some people to believe, but back in 1965, the median price of a single-family home in the United States cost $20,000. 50 years later, that cost is nearly 15 times as much at $296,400.

Out of the 100 of the largest metropolises in the U.S., San Jose, CA is the most expensive place to buy a home with a median price of $816,000 while Dayton, Ohio comes in at the cheapest, with a median sale price of $63,000 (according to Kiplinger.com).

The good news for those who live in Ohio (Akron, Toledo, and Youngstown all came in under $100,000) is that home prices are on the rise according to many real estate experts, but unfortunately that also means if you’re looking to relocate to the Silicon Valley, you will soon be paying upwards of a cool mil to house your family of four.

Now that you know the median price of an American home is almost $300,00 are you curious to know what that will buy you in cities around the globe? You’re not the only one. Recently, a Reddit user posed the question “What does a $300,000 house look like where you’re from?” on the social news networking site and the results turned out to garner a lot of insight and attention.
