Music, especially country music, is all about feeling. How does the sound and words affect you. A great song can take you out of a bad mood, and put your mind in its happy place. It can bring you back to a time you thought you forgot. It can remind you of someone you haven’t seen in decades. A great song can change your life.
To try and say this song, or that song is better than another is truly a matter of opinion. Who are we to tell someone else that their favorite song doesn’t stack up against ours? All that may be true, but that doesn’t stop us from debating what the greatest song of all time is.
Billboard.com seems to have found a way, at least by their algorithm, to determine the the greatest country songs of all time. this is their criteria.
Per Billboard.com – The Greatest of All-Time Top Country Artists, Songs and Albums rankings are based on weekly performance on Hot Country Songs (from its Oct. 20, 1958 inception through June 4, 2016) and Top Country Albums (from its Jan. 11, 1964 inception through June 4, 2016). Titles are ranked based on an inverse point system, with weeks at No. 1 earning the greatest value and weeks at lower spots earning the least. Due to changes in chart methodology over the years, eras are weighted differently to account for chart turnover rates over various periods. Artists are ranked based on a formula blending performance, as outlined above, of all their Hot Country Songs and Top Country Albums chart entries.
So by these parameters, lets break down the Top 25 Country songs of all time!
