This summer Loretta Lynn will be turning 85 years old as well as releasing a whole new studio album! While most 85 years olds might choose to retire and step away from a hectic work environment, Loretta simply isn’t interested!
Her last album was the critically-acclaimed and grammy-nominated album Full Circle and seemingly the perfect record to leave her career on a high note, but Loretta is full of soul and spirit and she has a few more songs to sing!
Her new album titled Wouldn’t It Be Great will feature new songs like “Ruby’s Stool,” “Ain’t No Time To Go,” “I’m Dying For Someone To Live For” and will also include newly recorded renditions of recent compositions (“God Makes No Mistakes,” from Lynn’s 2004 Grammy-winning album Van Lear Rose) as well as the iconic “Coal Miner’s Daughter” ( Loretta claims this song as the one she’s most proud to have written). She’s also newly recorded “Don’t Come Home A’ Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ On Your Mind),” which was her first of 16 No. 1 country singles.
“I think you try to do better with every record you put out,” Loretta shared of her new album in a statement. “It’s just everyday living–and everybody wants to know, ‘Well, what is it about your songs that people like?’ I think you’ve got to tell your stories. I just think it hits everybody, you know, the songs.”
